Entryway / Shoe Cabinet
The entryway is the first thing you see on coming in and the easiest place to become cluttered. The challenge with shoe cabinets is that shoes come in many sizes, need ventilation, and must still accommodate coats and a spot to drop keys.
OVERVIEW
About entryway and shoe cabinet customization
Layered treatment
Leave 150-200 mm open at the bottom for everyday slippers and trainers, a 350-400 mm counter at mid height for keys and parcels, and closed cabinets above for off-season shoes and clutter.
Depth and capacity
350 mm deep for shoes laid flat, 300 mm for angled, 400 mm if boxes are kept. A family of three usually needs 40-60 shoe slots, at roughly 15-20 pairs per person.
Ventilation and odor removal
Use louvred or slatted doors on the shoe cabinet, or leave space inside for activated charcoal and a dehumidifier box. Tightly sealed doors trap damp and odours for the long term.
KEY POINTS
